PAKISTAN Navy Tests Surface To Air Missile Successfully

At: 1822 PST,  Monday, December 27, 2010
Pak Navy tests surface to air missile KARACHI: Pakistan Navy successfully tested its Air Defence capability on Monday.

Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Noman Bashir, witnessed the live Surface to Air missile firing along with Vice Admiral Tayyab AliDogar, the Air Defence Commander of Pakistan Navy.

All the missiles fired, successfully acquired the targets. It said that a combination of SAM series were tested which gave PN the flexibility to operate with a range of missiles and strengthen the ground based air defence.

A large number of Armed Forces officers witnessed the firing serial.

Chief of Naval Staff appreciated the efforts put in by the Air Defence Battalion of Coastal Command and urged the officers and men to leave no stone unturned to ensure an impeccable defence.

Upon his arrival, the Admiral was given a detailed briefing by Commander Marines.

The Commander in his brief said that air threat being very dynamic in nature has assumed multiple dimensions in today's warfare and continuously changing with the rapid technological developments. He added that the induction of these state of the art weapons/equipment will augment PN ground based air defence capabilities against Hi-Tech aircraft and incoming missiles.
The missiles are equipped with highly sensitive infrared homing head which can intercept high speed aircraft and unmanned Aerial Vehicles. These SAMs are 'Fire and Forget' type missiles.

Bomb Illegal Indian Dams By Our J-17 Thunder Fighter bc0z This is The Sloution Belive me or Not

Bomb Illegal Indian Dams
Bomb Illegal Indian Dams
India is inviting war by building dams on Pakistan water lifelines. The only solution for this is to send Pakistani fighter planes to destroy those dams, Mr. Majeed Nizami, Chairman of the Pakistan Doctrine Trust, tells Pakistan’s opinion leaders and the younger generation.
THE NATION
LAHORE, Pakistan—Editor-in-Chief The Nation and Chairman Nazria Pakistan Trust Mr. Majid Nizami has said that we should remain well-prepared for war against Hindus as they were casting bad eye on Pakistan and on our independence, which is a blessing of Allah.
He was speaking at Aiwan-e-Karkunan Tehrik-e-Pakistan [House of the Activists of Pakistan Independence Movement] on the 53rd death anniversary of Maulana Zafar Ali Khan, one of the Founding Fathers of Pakistan, on Tuesday.
Mr. Nizami said Maulana Zafar Ali Khan was a versatile personality as he was a journalist, poet, politician and orator. He stood with the Quaid-e-Azam [Great Leader Mohammad Ali Jinnah] in Pakistan Independence Movement.
Zafar Ali khan launched a movement in the name of Masjid Shaheed Ganj [in Lahore, the winter capital of India's Muslim emperors who ruled the subcontinent for several centuries before the British invasion] and wanted to take over the mosque but that it is unfortunate that after gaining freedom, Muslims could not secure this mosque due to the intolerant attitude of Indians. The historic mosque remains closed. It is neither Gurdawara nor mosque.

He said Zafar Ali Khan published his poems on Page One of the newspaper Zamindar and it fetched great circulation. He said Maulana Zafar Ali Khan Trust should secure Zamindar office and make it a memoir.
Majid Nizami mentioned J-17 Thunder jet fighter, recently inducted into the PAF, which can fly at higher altitudes compared to Indian jets. Some Indian commentators have admitted that Pakistan has taken supremacy in air defence. There would be a war against India on water resources because India is building dams on our rivers and the solution lies in smashing those dams by missiles.

As such we should be prepared for war. He said though war is not a good thing but it is better to die by warring instead of dying with thirst and hunger. He said Maulana Zafar Ali Khan was great lover of the holy Prophet (PBUH).
Vice Chairman Nazria Pakistan Trust, Prof Dr Rafique Ahmad said that NPT is reminding the forgotten lesion of Pakistan Movement and its heroes. Maulana Zafar Ali Khan was one of them. He fought for the Muslims particularly of the subcontinent. He remained successful whichever field he chose. He instantaneously translated Pakistan Resolution on the call of Quaid-e-Azam and formed Majlis-e-Ittehad-e-Millat.
Chairman Maulana Zafar Ali Khan Trust and provincial Ombudsman Khalid Mehmood said that those nations who do not remember their heroes and benefactors, stop producing heroes. He said the Trust has built mazar of Maulana and published all his poetry particularly the naatia poetry, which is great asset and a source for devotion to the holy Prophet (PBUH).
Chief Executive Khabrain Group Zia Shahid said that NPT keeps these personalities alive. He paid tributes to Majid Nizami and said he was above the professional rivalries. He said a party is demanding abolition of word Islamic from the official name of Pakistan but it should not forget that we will never allow nor nobody could dare to do that for the sake of receiving aid from America. He said corrupt of Musharraf era should be taken to task. He said people are poor but our rulers are rich. US did not give aid under Kerry-Lugar Act to the government because it considered them corrupt. Our rulers should bring their money back to shed the loans. India do not want to talk to us but we are running after it for talks. Agreements are signed by weak nations and strong tore apart the agreements. President CPNE and chief editor daily Jinnah Khushnood Ali Khan said that PPP government, Army and Aiwan-e-Sadr have different viewpoint on India, which is our arch is our arch enemy. He said NAB victims should quit, as they are not our representatives. “I also do not recognise a government which do not celebrate days like Zafar Ali Khan’s.
Raja Masood Ali Khan said Nov 27 should be observed as Maulana Zafar Ali Khan Day. He said Maulana Zafar Ali Khan spent every third day average in jail. His father had command on Urdu, English, Persian and Arabic who trained Zafar Ali Khan in these languages. Columnist Rafique Dogar said that Maulana was present in 1906 meeting of ML in Dhaka. He was elected in 1937 elections.

Chance for PAKISTAN to regain their Bounce Back in Series

There are not many circumstances of which New Zealand can say they have a 100 per cent success rate in international cricket.
But T20 matches at Hamilton's Seddon Park are one of them.
Okay, it's not a high achievement in cricket's great statistical wonderland. They've only played there twice in the shortest form - beating the West Indies two years ago and Bangladesh last summer - but right now, after recent events, you take what you can.
The second game of the three-match series against Pakistan tonight offers a royal chance to enhance that little record.

There were signs in the five-wicket win at Eden Park on Sunday that it may not take long for New Zealand to regain some of their bounce after that horror run of 11 ODI losses on the trot.
Certainly Sunday's win, in a different version, will have helped the dressing room feel better about themselves, as allrounder James Franklin pointed out yesterday.
And the players should be smart enough to realise if they start getting carried away after one three-hour whack they've got a big problem.
"It was a step in the right direction," Franklin said. "It was important to get a win under our belts, but now it's all about the next game, and worrying about tomorrow and getting another win on the board."
Pakistan aren't the most consistent team in the game, but they are dangerous, have players who can turn a game in a blink and can beat the best.
Martin Guptill's rapid half-century at Eden Park was only New Zealand's third score over 40 against the tourists in six T20s, which is one reason why Pakistan have won four of those contests. Guptill also shares the New Zealand record of 23 balls for his 50 with Aaron Redmond, who did it against Ireland at last year's world T20.

Among New Zealand's selection decisions today is whether to stick with lively teenage bowler Adam Milne. He received soothing words of encouragement from both national captain Dan Vettori and the acting leader, Ross Taylor, after shipping 46 runs from his four overs at Eden Park.
But he's lively, did beat the bat and his cricket education will have been enhanced. There should be some support for getting him straight back on the horse today. That said, fast-medium Ian Butler and allrounder Luke Woodcock missed out on Sunday and will want a run. But keeping a winning team intact, given recent circumstances, has something to commend it too.

Taylor saw an end game out of this T20 rubber, with an eye on the remainder of Pakistan's visit.
"Momentum is a big thing in cricket," he said. "If we can continue an upward trend, as batting and bowling units we can get our confidence up, then hopefully take it into the tests as well as the one-dayers."

The Upcoming Star

What is Umar Akmal's future in tests?

I must admit I have heard of many Pakistani prodigies from Zaheer Abbas in the 60's,to Javed Miandad in the 70' and then Inzamam in the 90's.So when I heard of the younger brother of Kamran Akmal in Umar talked of in the lead up to the Pakistan tour of New Zealand in 09.I couldn't wait to see him.Duly I wasn't disappointed with his style and stroke play of the highest calibre. This seen in a truly brutal debut 129 off 160 balls. Where he belted the Kiwi's all over Dunedin. This against an attack containing the rarely fit,but lethal Shane Bond.Who was duly lethal in this match taking 8/153 and being key in the result.Even in the run chase in the Pakistani second innings on a wearing pitch favouring spin, but still support swing.Akmal as his more mature and reputed team mates failed was a stand out scoring an excellent and very mature 75.Thus nearly pulling of a great victory

In this series drawn 1 all. He was elite scoring one century and 3 50's with an average of 63.
So on seeing this I thought he was the next big thing in Pakistan cricket. So couldn't wait to see him in the Aussie part of the tour.
He was less successful in this part of the Pakistan tour of Oceania. Here he scored just one 50.He was viewed as being impetuous in his shot selection. That smacked of the impatience of his youth.More disturbingly was his technique being challenged and duly come up short.Though im a forgiving man and just saw this as a blip in a young man's career with Akmal only being 19 during this series. Also the pressure of that tour with the questions over Captaincy and selection dramas. That in the third test centred around his brother Kamran being dropped for his litany of misses behind the stumps in the ill fated Sydney tests. This must have worn heavy on him.

So I thought every person deserves a second chance so eagerly awaited his performance in the tests against the Aussies and England in the UK.In truth if he was average in Australia he was damned awful in these 6 tests. His technically deficiencies were there for all to see and duly exploited. Then more worrying was the lack of heart and mental toughness he was showing. He had the look of a beaten man in mind and in his heart. Thus in tests where any weakness in technique or in mind or heart is duly exploited. He was like a dead man walking with the vultures circling and in truth in sport don't rely on vultures to be kind
For they never are!
So as the test series against South Africa is fast approaching against a team containing the Worlds best bowler in Dale Steyn. Then the fast improving Morne Morkel and hopefully the left arm pace and swing of Wayne Parnell.
Which Umar Akmal will we see..................?
For against this brutal bowling line up, if he is like how he was in England. He will truly be hung out to dry.

A Horrow Afternoon For Gary Kirsten in 2002 Lahore Test

A nice bit of nasty-Shoaib Ahktar

I must admit, as many have seen I have a very dim view of current day players aside from the very exceptional ones.I get very annoyed living in Australia when youngsters caught up in the media frenzy over the ex quick Brett Lee.They want to argue with me about him being the scariest quick that the game has ever seen.My brow furrows and my skin rankles at this and I try not to respond by questioning their ability to know about the game heritage. For which is laden with nasty quicks. That young Lee has no compare with in any sense in regards to nastiness, unless on the occasion when he accidently on purpose bowled a beam ball..........
Though Australia being a multicultural country I often get Pakistani kids offering up the name of the 'Rawalpindi Express' Now I must admit I have no respect for this bowler due to the fact that he never fully lived out his God given ability. Through his lack of application and his other drawbacks.
Though I can't disregard his place as one hell of a scary bowler...........

He made me stand up and take notice of him in the 2002 test against Australia held in Colombo. In this test his extreme pace and swing both traditional and reverse had me baying for the batsmens blood. For he had them all hoping around and fearing for their lives. You could just see it in their eyes as they faced up to him. This Aussie batting line up in truth was one of the best line ups that's been seen in the history of the game.Names such as the Wugh's,Langer,Hayden,Ponting,Martyn and Gilly at 7.So you can see their strength! Though Ahktar treated them as though they were a 'Pindi' club line up.In the second inning he ran through them like a run away freight train.Dismissing Ponting for 7,then both Waugh's for ducks with truly brutal deliveries.Though his dismissal of Adam Gilchrist was truly a sight to behold.A truly brutal inswinging yorker that made Gilly look about as out of depth as he was seen ever in his career. That was so symbolised by his batting dominance against any and all bowlers
Just the sight of the stumps flying out everywhere it was truly a sight to behold!
Though if this was in truth one of his career highlights I love to recollect on another moment to underline his lovely nastiness.......

It's the 2003 test against South Africa at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore (I so miss seeing cricket from Pakistan!) Again Ahktar is at his brutal best against a very fine South African team.He was indeed a match winner returning figures of 98/6.Though a moment in the game is what I like to look back on.It was the South African first innings with their number 3 in Gary Kirsten well and truly set on 53.Looking in truth so at ease.
So enter Mr Ahktar bowling from around the wicket............
He throughout the game had shown such pace and fire, but this delivery was one to warm the sadistic cockles on my heart. He angled a brute of a delivery short of a length that was like a cobras venom such was its lethalness.Kirsten caught out by its speed and malice had no defence against it.Even wearing a helmut, such was it's brutality. It pierced the helmut and left Kirsten prostate on the ground blood pouring out of a wound near his cheek....

The only thing that upset me was Ahktar going to aide Kirsten, whereas bowlers of real cold blooded killer nastiness such as Jeff Thomson would have just sent a message to the change rooms to bring a shovel out with the medico's to bury him!

Kamran Akmal- does 2+2='s 4? or 5?

I remember all my life ive lived by the saying 'that if something looks like a turd, acts like a turd and smells like a turd, more often than not it's a turd.........'
Meaning that if someone acts, looks and has a scent of being shady more often than not they are...........
Now forgive me for this conspiracy theory, but since the rather curious events in Sydney last year where Pakistan lost a test that was near impossible to loss. For which people will justifiably point to a dreadful batting collapse. Which granted should never have happened.
 BUT.................
On the first innings Pakistan are 196 ahead and with Australia reduced to 257/8. Which effectively is 61/8.Though a series of inexplicably misses by Kamran behind the stumps for Hussey of 5 occasions and Siddle who made 38 twice gives the Aussies a 185 run lead
A cynic would think Kamran has a few betting slips in the locked bottom drawer in his hotel room wouldn't they?

Then after the fall out from this test and Kamran getting dropped and his brother Umar feigning injury to not be able to play in Hobart.Though he ultimately did....
Again kills the team and whose the chief instigator...........Mr Kamran Akmal!
So we go ahead a few months to the tragic and heart breaking events in England where the trio of Salman Butt,Asif and Aamer were charged with alleged match spotting offences.......
Strangely Kamran's name isn't mentioned and again forgive my cynicism, but I wouldn't be surprised. If he was the cause of everything from the polar ice caps melting to global warming.........
Such is the truth disdain I have for him.
So a bit of match spotting for him that's no issue at all and to cover his insidious dealings he's probably the whistle blower in the team accusing others....
While in a smoke filled under ground room he and his cohorts are counting their cash,as they put the seals on fake Pakistani visas and trying to decide where to smuggle their next truck of Afghanistani refugees (heart breaking trade!) into England
Yes granted rather dramatic but its the true gall I feel for this man..............
So in the wake of this scandal he's cleared as quick as the story goes to print while the others are in the soup big time.............
And just if you have a moment.....
Look up Salman Butt's interviews on the affair and tell me if you think he's is a guilty man...........for I can't see him being involved!

Then finally this bizarre disappearance of Zulqarnain Haider. The current incumbent behind the stumps for Pakistan. In the wake of receiving death threats for not throwing a match...
He abandons the tour and flees to England seeking asylum.............
Now again who benefits from this?
His brother Umar, who now will get in the test side and his other brother Adman who now will more than likely be behind the stumps.

Plus Kamran who it was reported more than likely won't be in the World Cup squad leaves a nice mess for Pakistan to clean up!

A Letter From My (GORA) Friend....................

My letter of support to the Pakistani people-Bridget Svabelj

In my time on the net. I have made friends with the grumpy old man known in life as Tim Holt.In this time we have developed a great friendships through mutual interests.
The key one being writing thus my appearance on here.
I know very little about cricket, but id like to think of myself as a very caring, kind hearted and empathetic woman.Who has been through many struggles in my country of Croatia.
I tell you this for my country used to be part of the greater country known as Yugoslavia until there was sadly a very bloody war. That involved many people getting killed and hurt. Some of my relatives fled to Denmark, for in this conflict it was a very dirty war where young women like I was at the time and babies not being spared.
I remember one story of a soldier lancing a woman holding a baby then throwing the baby over a building as part of the struggle
Shameful acts of a tragic time...

Though now some 20 odd years later I sit in a beautiful country (pic above). That im free to do whatever I want to in.I have got a degree and am a journalist.
Why I write this is because I have heard of the tragic struggle in Pakistan and having lived previously in a country that in one street had Muslims,Orthodox and Christian people so I know we are the same people created by the same creator.
I also know that Pakistan might be struggling now as my country was in those dark times, but in the association ive had with Muslim people, in my country and Pakistan people on the net,
I know your hearts are strong to go with your wisdom which is very profound.

I know in time that your country will be prosperous and beautiful again as the good Lord wants it to be-As I go to bed this is the prayer I pray every night!

No, All Of Us Are NOT Corrupt!!!

‘All Pakistanis are born cheaters, Honesty is a word that is missing from a Pakistani dictionary, All Pakistanis are CORRUPT!’
Hearing such ridiculous remarks against a person’s beloved nation would hurt anyone’s feelings, and I am not any different. And this is the reason why a fifteen year-old kid tried to manage to take some time off facebook, play-station, TV, Sports, Skool (No, am not a nerd! :P), etc. to write an article.

First of all, the cause of corruption is ‘greed’, and greed is something that is not related to a particular place, or region or a country, it’s in the hearts of most people, if not everyone, in this world. We all have the greed to become more powerful, richer, more respected, etc. We are all prone to the disease of greediness; it doesn’t matter whether you are Bill Gates or an orphan living in some dirty-slum!
A middle-class person wants to develop into a millionaire, while the millionaire wants to become a billionaire, and the billionaire aims to be a trillionaire. Being rich just does NOT eliminate the greediness for money in a person’s heart, or then the likes of Bill Gates wouldn’t even need to work anymore, neither would Steve jobs have to try so hard to sell his iPhones. Everyone in this universe wants to get more and more money, such is lyf. It’s nothing more than a bitter-truth!
And NO! Cricketers are NOT Gods, they are merely humans, and just like us, they even have desires and can be lured by lots of money. Do you really think that it is very easy for a young cricketer to reject an offer of $200,000 for just bowling ONE no-ball in a match??? It certainly ain’t easy, and just like us, some of them fall into the trap. Making lots of money in a very short time can tempt anyone, even the most honest people in this world, especially when there is a very low chance of you getting caught. After all, NOTW sting operations aren’t conducted everyday

(BTW, I still do NOT believe in their reports. It is nothing more than a publicity stunt I believe.)

Alright, many (including those who left their countries just to earn more money overseas) would say “But I wouldn’t sell my country for some money.” Fair point, though I believe that match-fixing is NOT only related to money nowadays. It’s gone beyond money, it’s now something related to ‘Life & Death.’ And the recent event of Zulqarnain Haider is a great example, as well as the incident that Geoff Lawson recently narrated where he talked about how a selector received death-threats for his sister if he didn’t select a player in the team. The under-world bookies of the world have really made life extremely difficult for even the most honest cricketers with their death threats, and trust me, no one wants to deal with those under-world dons, let alone ignore their threats. Believe me, it doesn’t matter whether you are honest or dishonest, whether you are an Indian or a Pakistani, you are bound to cross any limit for the sake of your and your own family’s life. Neither is it that only the Pakistani cricketers are lured to commit this awful crime by the under-world bookies, it doesn’t matter to them which country you belong to. All they want is more and more money in the least amount of time which is possible by dealing with better teams, and they certainly would NOT hesitate for even a second if you are an Aussie or English, after all, they are dons and nothing fears them. So let’s get out of our nationality shells, dismantle the racism in our hearts, and STOP blaming only a particular country. It is just that many are lucky enough and never get away with it, while some others get caught.
And NO, I have NOT been defending anyone who commits the nastiest crime in the beautiful game of cricket throughout my article, but I just want people to erase the biasness they have against particular nations and try to find a solution. I believe, it’s about time that the ACSU and the ICC and the Cricket boards of all Countries wake-up and act like a parent of the cricketers by insuring that they stay away from such bad guys, and it doesn’t matter whether that means breaching the privacy of some cricketers since the cricketers, being like normal humans, are bound to fall into such traps if there is no-one keeping an eye on them like a parent. The integrity of this ‘Great Game’ has lately been under the scanner and it’s about time the incompetent ACSU starts doing something apart from only talking. Time is running out, Please SAVE this beautiful game!!!

Mr.Dependable Back In Busniess Till World Cup2011 For ODI`s

                                   Truly Shameful PCB-Younis Khan

Im not one to usually indulge in the politics behind sport, but in the last 20 odd years has there been a more curious and sublimely incompetent cricket board than the PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board).Firstly the decision 15 odd years ago to end the exceptional career of the off spin bowler Saqlain Mushtaq's.Maybe im showing a bias, for I loved him, but even now he'd still be the best spin bowler in Pakistan from the tweekers I have seen. Then even worse the banishment of Younis Khan (YK).Who was the rock and in truth pulse in the battings heart?
Where is the sense?
Also as an board of Control in a cricket crazy Nation like Pakistan. Where is the thoughts of providing a few smile for the 180 million citizens in truly dark time in this fine Country?
Now you can understand him being outed if there were a plethora of options to replace him,but in terms of batsmen there just weren't.
This coupled with the acute nepotism shown to players like Imran Farhat and the Akmal bakers dozen. In truth in the 50 plus years of watching cricket. I have to think long and hard of a weaker Pakistan batting line up that has been on show in YK's absence.

In the 5 years previous to him being outed in 2009.He never averaged less than 52 with the bat in tests and racked up 11 centuries.Plus the thing about YK is he is tough and because of this a true test player of very high calibre. For although he might have a few technically deficiencies he makes up for it with true grit and determination. This in a side full of 'wafty' players like U Akmal, who thinks he's BOOM BOOM the sequel  with the same results. He gives a very good example of how you need to play. Also for the other young players it gives moral support much like Tendulkar did for young Pujara against Australia recently.
In a word he is the rock you could build a batting line up around.
Thankfully he was recalled for the first test against South Africa concluding yesterday and SHOCK HORROR.
He duly scored an unbeaten century to save the match for Pakistan

If ICC not Clear Muhammad Aamir Than We Have Options

Junaid Khan-A Reason to Smile Pakistan!

In the wake of the tragic allegations and subsequent suspension without any guilt proven again the lethal new ball duo of Mohammud Aamer and Mohammad Asif.Pakistan has every reason to be upset for the heart of their team has been ripped out.Though as the testimonials from people in Pakistan show in you Junaid Khan. They have a young bowler that is capable of being a very fine Test bowler. In the wake of his great domestic season,he has duly been included in the Test Team for the New Zealand series. As his skill show in regards to pace, swing, seam and heart he could be the same revelation as young Aamer was.

Lets hope he is for the International Cricket Council has treated Pakistan in a shameful manner!

'Another left armer. This one though is an exceedingly talented bowler. He is from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a village called Matra in the Mardan district, I know that village lies somewhere between Muslimabad and Sultan Khel. Even though he was from so far from my village of Piro Khel and was currently playing in Abboatabad, even when he was 15 he was famous in Khyber, he was supposed to be the pathan Wasim Akram. That isn't strictly true, for one thing he doesn't have anywhere near the pace to be called fast. Also his action is quite crouched, that may well be a ploy though because of his low point of release he can get very skiddy bounce. Astonishingly, even with such a low release, I've seen him get seam movement, His specialty though is swing. Barring Anwar Ali, Junaid gets more swing than any other young bowler I've seen. Inswing is his speciality. He is rough around the edges but this guy can be a gem. Who knows? We may see Rameez, Aamer and Junaid make up a legendary bowling line up in the future.'

Junaid Khan
A former U-19 World Cup winner is a gifted left arm fast bowler who has a great line and length, with the ability to swing the bowl at good pace. He seems to be on the brink of a call up after an impressive domestic season.
http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/content/player/259551.html

-Imran Asghar

lol ahan, well Junaid
*has got pace
a repeatable action
*can swing both ways
*gets steeper bounce
*has a good slower one

Cricket World Cup2011 Teams Previews

A look at the teams in the lead up to the World Cup

Admittedly a lot can change between now and the start of the World Cup in 2011,but this is my preview of the strengths and weaknesses of the teams.Ill look at 6 categories as follows:
1.Strengths
2.Weaknesses
3.Depth
4.Fielding
5.Key Players
6.Chances

Australia:

Strengths:In truth even though they have struggled of late. Few would doubt the Aussies are still the best Odi team going around.I say this because unlike other teams who pay homage to the litany of meaningless Odi tournaments going on.Australia chooses to use them as a grooming process for younger players. When there's a big tournament on their big guns reappear.Though they are on the wane in tests. In Odi's where the standard isn't as high and players can hide technical and temperament deficiences.Players like Ferguson,White,Lee,Tait who aren't test class compliment the greats like Ponting,Watson,Hussey and others in the shorter form of the game
Weaknesses.Though not as pronounced in Odi's for spinners get very cheap wickets for batsmen have to attack. The Aussies lack a very good spinner. In Hauritz,Smith,Doherty,O'Keefe and others they are average, but in Odi's get the job done
Depth:Unlike in tests where bar fast bowlers, they have little depth in batting or spin bowling. In Odi's they have many players who can make an impact
Fielding: There not as good as they were but still very good
Key Players:Shane Watson and Ricky Ponting
Chances:Id still rate them as the favourites in the tournament

Bangladesh:

Strengths:In Shakib and Tamim are there two brighter young stars in the World of cricket? Also like Sri Lanka in the 96 World Cup. In Asian conditions their spinners will play a huge part in their fortunes headed by Shakib's very refined spin. Also their batting is very underatted in Odi's.
Weaknesses:The lack of a front line seam bowler will hurt them. For although Mortaza is indeed big hearted. He has had issues with control.
Depth:In Odi's they have depth in the spin department, but not in other areas
Fielding:For an Asian team they are very enthusiastic and above average in this area of the game
Key Players:Shakib and Tamim
Chances.I can't see them winning it ,but can see them being very dangerous even an outsider to make the Semi's. For Asian conditions so favour their side

England:

Strengths:A very professional side with strength in all aspects of the game. They have steel and explosiveness in their batting with Pieterson,Strauss,Morgan,Collingwood and the like. They are very well stocked in their bowling in all aspects in regards to pace and spin with Swann the forefront of this. Then their fielding is top class.Plus believe they can win anything
Weaknesses:I can't think of many that they have
Depth:Like Australia are very well stocked in regards to depth.Though unlike Australia have very decent spinners in reserve, who can be impactful
Fielding:An exceptional fielding side
Key Players:Kevin Pietersen and Greame Swann
Chances: Definitely one of the favourites

India:

Strengths:In their batting they are very well stocked with many explosive types like Yuvraj,Dhoni,Raina,Sehwag and others and then they have Sachin-need I say more. They have many spin options that are all very useful in Odi cricket. Then there pace attack though not threatening gets the job done in limited overs cricket.
Weaknesses:Their main one is their pace attack which is adequate, but lacks penetration.Plus the fact it is on Asian soil means they have to deal with huge expectations. That can't be discounted for no host has ever won a World Cup!
Depth. In batting very well stocked. Also in the spin depratment they are very well stocked though in pace they are vulnerable
Fielding:Very decent for an Asian team and in the youngster coming in their all great fielders
Key Players:M.S.Dhoni and sachin Tendulkar
Chances:They have the team to win it,but I don't think they will

New Zealand:

Strengths:The kiwi's are always well drilled and well performed in Odi cricket, but always come up a bit short. In their batting it can be explosive highlighted by players like McCullum,Ryder and Taylor. Then the precocious young brilliant batsman Kane Williamson has the pedrigree to made an impression. Then their bowling is highlighted by Dan Vettori. At present don't know if he's retired from all cricket, but if Shane Bond is available it will make them very dangerous indeed. Also very well captained by Vettori.
Weaknesses:They lack penetration and depth in their pace stocks,so on batting friendly Asian pitches might get flayed.
Fielding:One of their strengths.A very fine fielding side
Depth:In New Zealand, Rugby is king,so cricket is very much a splinter sport as a result very little depth
Key Players:McCullum and Dan Vettori
Chances: I can't see them going too far

Pakistan:

Strengths:The strength of Pakistan in any form of the game is their unpredictability. They can go undefeated and win the tournament or get beaten by a Hong Kong invitational veterans side. Also politics in this fine Country always defies logic in regards to team selection. Also the fate of their trio of players in january is key to their chances. If Asif,Butt and Aamer can play they will be formidable.I have a feeling they will get off for if the case was so conclusive they would have got outed indefinitely by now.
Weaknesses:Their unpredictability is their key one for you don't know what you'll get.Plus the PCB always kills anything that is good in their side.Lastly their fielding is very substandard
Fielding:It sadly borders on comical, which in limited overs cricket is a killer
Depth:There are many great young players in Pakistan, but again it depends on the PCB picking them........
Key Players:If free to play then in Asif and Aamer they form a new ball attack that can run through any batting line up.Otherwise Younis Khan and Shahid Afridi
Chances:It all depends on the fate of their accused trio.If their free to play then they are a big chance otherwise I can't see them going far for their bowling is very weak

South Africa:

Strengths:They have the side to win it but we say this every World Cup.In Dale Steyn they have easily the best bowler in the World of cricket. He is very well supported by Morne Morkel,Parnell,Tsosobe,Botha and others. In batting they are formidable with Smith,Amla,De Villiers,Kallis and the late order hitting of Albie Morkel and others. To top their all round appeal their fielding is exceptional
Weaknesses.None on the field, but in the mental aspect that's a question. For they always come up short when it matters.Though they have improved from their mental midget days of Smith complaining about the 'Big bad Aussies picking on him'.They still have question marks in this regard
Fielding:Truly exceptional
Depth;Again truly exceptional in regards to young talent on the verge of the side
Key Players:Dale Steyn and A.B.De.Villiers
Chances:One of the favourites without doubt

Sri Lanka:

Strengths:In Asian conditions they are definitely one of the favourites.Their batting highlighted by Sangakkara and Mahela and supported by others is very good indeed. Then their bowling in both spin and pace is very well served.Plus their fielding is top shelf in quality
Weaknesses. In truth they don't have many being a very fine limited overs cricket side
Fielding:One of the best if not the best in the World
Depth:Very good indeed.I hope Dinesh Chandimal and Chamara Kapugedera play for there very good young players
Key Players:Kumar Sangakkara and Lasith Malinga
Chances:I think are probably the favourites going into the tournament

West Indies:

Strengths:They are a decent Odi side with many dangerous players like Chris Gayle,Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo.Though their side has many profound weaknesses that are hard to wall paper over.Even in the shorter forms of the game. They are capable of upsetting good sides, but a sustained run I think is beyond them.
Weaknesses:In all aspects of the game they have glaring weaknesses. Also they have been reduced to bickering Islands again and more worrying is their lack of respect for the proud heritages of West Indian cricket. As shown in a few not wanting to sign central contacts
Fielding.A decent fielding side
Depth.Very little depth
Key Players:Chris Gayle and Kieron Pollard
Chances:They might surprise a few,but can't see them going far

To the 5 associate teams in Kenya, Ireland,Holland, Zimbabwe and Canada who made it well done.I don't think you will go very far in the tournament.Though i'd be pleasantly surprised if you proved me wrong!
