What a common PAKISTANI Need In 2011

Cricket Needs to Resume in Pakistan!

I remember after 9/11 there were people from across the spectrum from Politics to Sport to Arts. Who didn't want to perform in New York because of the safety issues and the hysteria that followed. There was even talk about the Baseball World Series being called off because of the concerns especially with the New York Yankees being favoured to make the Fall Classic.
Though you can understand the hysteria of people based around concerns for their well being. For noone should be killed or harmed going about their normal life or indulging in entertaining of others.Though to counter this were the many who said we won't stop living or doing what we'd always do because of one attack. For we need to support New York and it's citizens
Most prominent in this was the then New York Mayor Rudy Guiliani who stated this:
Tomorrow New York is going to be here. And we're going to rebuild, and we're going to be stronger than we were before... I want the people of New York to be an example to the rest of the country, and the rest of the world, that terrorism can't stop us.
That statement was compelling and in it's aftermath this great City has been rebuilt and hasn't missed a heartbeat-not one single beat.....
So lets associate this to cricket and the tragic situation involving the terroist attacks on the touring Sri Lankan team in Pakistan in March of 2009.It was a truly abhorrent and amoral act against a team who despite concerns over the safety in Pakistan still supported their Pakistani brothers and sisters and toured this Nation.I think in response to teams touring their Island paradise during their tragic civil war.
They basically sent a message, that we support the game and the 180 million people of Pakistan and excuse my language, but fuck terrorism you will never win!
I think it is time that we all made the same commitment to Pakistan.
For to quote a great Pakistan patriot Imran Asghar:
Cricket is in our blood. We would probably bleed Green if u cut us. Yes the security wasnt up 2 scratch, but it was the 1st sporting event in our history to have such a tragic outcome. As a whole we are starving of seeing international cricket.
Your probably thinking that im being nieve and even irresponsible in calling for this, but lets think of this. The Ashes still went on after the tragic London Bombings and cricket didn't cease in India after the Mumbai attacks. These attacks were as grave and even more destructive to human life and the fear it insighted.
Also in support of this call was the scheduling of the game was just all wrong. The curious and must be said sublimely incompetent Ijaz Butt wanted the game in his beloved hometown on Lahore. At a time when most of the security in this great Moghul City was centred around the Governor Raj and the fears of an attacks were extreme.
If it had of been scheduled in Karachi we'd probably be reminiscing on another great century from Younis Khan I am sure.
So why can't like what happened in New York after 9/11 happen in Pakistan now?
If the scheduling of the games were in venues deemed low on security risk and of course the security watertight.I cant see why we can't and indeed why we aren't imploring for it to happen!
Cynically is it because Pakistan is a Muslim Country and wrongly labelled a 'terroist' Nation?
Thus like how quickly the coverage of the tragic floods in this fine Nation disappeared from any media coverage. Is it because we just don't care to support our Pakistani brothers and sisters?
If this is indeed the case, well we as a Global village need to take a good hard look at ourselves. For the meaning to the citizens of Pakistan would be so immense. For they could indulge in what occupies a huge part of their hearts in cricket.Plus it would publicise, what people know about Pakistan and its people. That they are beautiful and kind hearted people, not the 'terrorists' that the Western Press paint them out to be in the hope of selling papers
Of course, I don't want to see anyone harmed, but I want this prospect thoroughly examined and if it is deemed that it is possible to resume the game in Pakistan in Cities that are deemed safe.Well there are no excuses!

We as humans need to make this happen to support Pakistan and it's great people and say to the animals who spreads hatred through terrorism-you will never win!
